PUEBLO, Colo. – Rocky Mountain Vein Institute (RMVI), a network of vein centers that offer total vein care, announces that RMVI Services CEO and co-founder Erin Reilly Gibbs has been nominated for the ATHENA Leadership Award, which will be presented at the ATHENA Award Gala on Thursday, April 25 from 5:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Hyatt Regency Denver at Colorado Convention Center, located at 650 15th St. in Denver, Colo. The ATHENA Leadership Award is presented to a woman – or man – who is honored for professional excellence, community service and for actively assisting women in their attainment of professional excellence and leadership skills.
Since the program’s inception in 1982, nearly 6,000 exemplary leaders in over 500 communities have received the prestigious ATHENA Award in the United States, Bermuda, Canada, China, Greece, India, Russia, United Arab Emirates and United Kingdom. By honoring exceptional leaders, the ATHENA Leadership Award Program seeks to inspire others to achieve excellence in their professional and personal lives. The ATHENA Leadership Award is presented annually by chambers of commerce, women’s organizations and universities. The award is established through local host organizations in partnership with ATHENA International’s national underwriters, local businesses and individual sponsors.
Gibbs has played some central roles in the development of innovative services and educational content in the healthcare industry. Before co-founding Rocky Mountain Vein Institute (RMVI), Trinity Vein Institute (Texas) and RMVI Services, she helped MayoClinic.com launch its first edition website and produced the first MayoClinic.com online video health library as well as online text and interactive health content. Together with her husband, Gordon F. Gibbs, M.D., she founded Rocky Mountain Vein Institute in 2009, RMVI Services in 2010, and Trinity Vein Institute in Arlington, Texas in 2012, with the goal of caring for people with venous disease, especially those without access to vein specialists. RMVI is the only Colorado practice with two certified phlebologists, including one of only two women in the state of Colorado with the distinction.
Gibbs also volunteers and provides sponsorship for numerous non-profit organizations in Colorado, and she sits on the Foundation Boards for St. Mary Corwin Medical Center and CSU-Pueblo.
“It is such an honor to be nominated for the esteemed ATHENA Leadership Award,” says Gibbs. “The other nominees are all women with outstanding qualifications, and I am so proud to be counted among them.”
“I have observed and interacted with Erin as she has served in various roles in the community,” says Rob Ryder, President and CEO, St. Mary-Corwin Medical Center in Pueblo. “Erin has been a very active member of the St. Mary-Corwin Foundation Board. Her business sense, creativity, and work ethic have made her invaluable to the success of our foundation and the contributions that it makes to our healthcare mission.”
