Microphlebectomy
Microphlebectomy, also known as Ambulatory Phlebectomy, is an in-office procedure to remove bulging varicose veins near the skin surface. The diseased veins are removed in small segments through several tiny nicks in the skin. Typically, the incisions are 1-3mm in length and require no sutures. The extent of the treatment area determines the number of skin incisions.
The tools used for phlebectomy are specialized instruments that look similar to small crochet hooks. The patient wears a compression wrap for up to 72 hours continuously after the procedure. After the compression bandage is removed, a thigh-height, graduated compression stocking is worn for an additional 7-10 days.
