Edwards, Colo. – RMVI Services, a medical management company that oversees a network of clinics that diagnose and treat people with venous disease, is pleased to announce that its Vail Valley Clinic’s Lead Vascular Ultrasound Technologist, Christine Unger, has earned the Registered Phlebology Sonographer (RPhS) certification from Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI). The new credential makes her one of only three Registered Phlebology Sonographers in Colorado and one of only 135 nationally.
RPhS credentialing demonstrates profound knowledge and dedication to the emerging field of Phlebology, and is considered the new standard by the American College of Phlebology for sonographers who practice in the specialized field. In addition to being one of only three professionals in Colorado to hold the credential, Unger achieved a near-perfect score on her board exam, receiving a 695 on an extensive 700-point test.

Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) is a not-for-profit organization established for the purpose of administering credentialing examinations as an independent credentialing agency. CCI began credentialing cardiovascular professionals in 1968.
Unger has nearly 30 years of experience in the vascular field and has practiced as a member of RMVI’s Vail Valley Clinic since it opened in 2012. Before moving to Colorado, Unger worked in Cheyenne, Wyo., where she helped to open the state’s first vascular lab. She has also been responsible for running a lab at Boston Medical Center, and has worked at a mobile-medical company, assisting more than 50 labs in attaining accreditation through the Intersocietal Commission for the Accreditation of Vascular Laboratories. In addition to holding the RPhS designation, Unger is a Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT), and enjoys making jewelry, gardening and being outdoors.
“Completing the required training and passing the board exam for the RPhS certification is truly a milestone in my career,” Unger says. “Having this certification not only enhances my nearly three decades of experience in vascular medicine, but helps me and the entire team at RMVI stay ahead of industry standards.”
