PUEBLO, Colo. – Rocky Mountain Vein Institute (RMVI), a network of medical centers that offer total vein care, announces that a company-wide multilingual/multicultural health care services initiative for patients with Limited English Proficiency (LEP). To that end, RMVI is partnering with CyraCom, LLC, a diversified language services company that provides Over-the-Phone interpretation, translation and localization, video remote interpretation, on-site interpretation, and testing and training.

In addition, RMVI has recently hired Susana Clar, a management professional who utilizes creativity, leadership, and critical thinking to promote companies and products to the Latino market. The first phase of the new RMVI initiative has been designed to provide more online digital content in Spanish for those Hispanics who do not conduct their online searches in English, and the initiative will develop new creative content in both English and Spanish, including press releases.

Rocky Mountain Vein Institute is owned by Gordon F. Gibbs, M.D. and managed by RMVI Services Owner and CEO, Erin Reilly Gibbs. They co-founded Rocky Mountain Vein Institute in 2009, RMVI Services in 2010, and Trinity Vein Institute in Arlington, Texas in 2012, with the goal of caring for people with venous disease, especially those without access to vein specialists.

“During the past year, we have made it a priority when hiring that we look for those with multiple language and cultural skills,” says CEO Erin Gibbs. “In particular we have made it a priority to reach out to the Latino market and have on staff Spanish speaking support. This has been very effective at our facility in Arlington, Texas, and in Parker, Colorado, and also now in Vail Valley where our new Medical Assistant is bilingual in Spanish.”

“We realized the need to adjust our current RMVI branding and storytelling for the Latino market, and Susana has years of experience in the health care market, especially with Blue Cross/Blue Shield in Utah where she launched the Latino market campaign for print, TV and radio,” says Dr. Gordon Gibbs. “Under Susana’s direction, RMVI is translating all of its internal documents and forms into the Spanish language to better service this population.”

The newly launched RMVI multilingual and multicultural health care initiative is aligned with the goals of The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (ACA), which aims to reduce the number of uninsured Americans, improve the overall quality of health care, and contain health care costs. Individuals who are Limited English Proficient (LEP) often encounter health care complications arising from language and culture barriers. CyraCom recommends that outreach efforts take into account language and culture barriers from initial conception in order to have better success with linguistically isolated households, and that organizations should have appropriate language services in place and staff that are properly trained to use them.
