Pueblo, Colo. – Rocky Mountain Vein Institute (RMVI), a network of vein centers that offers total vein care, from the simplest cosmetic problem to the most life-altering condition, is pleased to announce that RMVI’s Technical Director and Regional Operations Manager, Kassandra Garrison, has earned the Registered Phlebology Sonographer (RPhS) certification from Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI). The new credential makes her one of only three Registered Phlebology Sonographers in Colorado and one of only 112 worldwide. The RPhS designation adds to Garrison’s impressive list of credentials, which also include: RVT, RDMS, RDCS, RT (R)(M).

RPhS credentialing demonstrates profound knowledge and dedication to the emerging field of Phlebology, and is considered the new standard by the American College of Phlebology for sonographers who practice in the specialized field. In addition to being one of only three Coloradans who hold the credential, Garrison is part of the elite who are within the stringent, 43 percent pass rate for the accreditation.

“We are very proud of Kassandra on all fronts and feel extremely lucky to have her expertise, brilliance and knowledge on our team,” says Gordon F. Gibbs, M.D., Founder and Chief Medical Executive of RMVI. “Our goal is to credential all seven of our Registered Vascular Technologists (RVTs) as Registered Phlebology Sonographers, and Kassandra’s demonstrated the level at which RMVI addresses our patients’ health, care and overall well-being.”

Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) is a not-for-profit organization established for the purpose of administering credentialing examinations as an independent credentialing agency. CCI began credentialing cardiovascular professionals in 1968.

Garrison also holds an unprecedented number of credentials, academic accolades, and professional endorsements, which she received prior to the RPhS accreditation. In serving as RMVI’s Technical Director, she brings eight years experience in diagnostic medical sonography, and six years in vascular and vein practice to RMVI. She is a published author, and has been an invited speaker for multiple practices and organizations, including the Society for Vascular Ultrasound.

“I’m thrilled to have completed the required training and examination process necessary to obtain the RPhS certification,” says Garrison. “RMVI’s mission is to provide the very best, most comprehensive care possible to each and every patient. This credential helps keep my work and the RMVI vision very much ahead of industry standards.”

RMVI provides patients with diagnosis and treatment for venous disease, resulting in improved quality of life. The minimally invasive procedures are recognized and covered by most health insurances. RMVI is also home to The Diagnostic Center, which provides comprehensive testing for Venous, Peripheral Arterial, Extra-Cranial Cerebrovascular, and Visceral Vascular disease. The Diagnostic center has been awarded full accreditation through the Intersocietal Accreditation Commission for vascular testing.
