PUEBLO, Colo. – American Vein & Vascular Institute, a network of vein diagnosis and treatment centers in Colorado and Texas, was selected as a 2014 Colorado Companies to Watch winner. Winners were announced Friday, June 20 at the Colorado Companies to Watch Gala held at the Marriott City Center in downtown Denver.

“We are honored to receive such select and prestigious recognition,” says American Vein & Vascular Institute CEO Erin Gibbs. “Our team is an incredible, patient-centric and over-achieving group of health care professionals and support staff. Without the additional dedication and support from our business and banking partners, and our great relationships with industry vendors, this award would not be possible.”

The 50 Honorees, chosen from approximately 1,200 nominees, are second-stage companies that are developing valuable products and services, creating quality jobs, enriching communities and creating new industries throughout the state. The select 50 companies fuel the economic fire of Colorado by accounting for much of the economic growth and independence of individuals. Honorees received special recognition at the Gala attended by business and government leaders from across the state, a trophy inscribed with the company’s name, and a profile of their winning company in the June issue of ColoradoBiz Magazine.

Winning companies met criteria that included moving beyond the start-up phase, being privately held, and facing issues of growth, not survival.

Gibbs and her husband, Chief Medical Executive Gordon Gibbs, M.D., co-founded American Vein & Vascular Institute (then known as Rocky Mountain Vein Institute) in 2009 in Pueblo, and subsequently opened facilities in Parker, Cañon City and Vail. Expanding in 2012 into Arlington, Texas, was pivotal for the company, which began with three employees and now employs almost 50. In the past year and a half, American Vein & Vascular Institute has become the largest network of vein and vascular centers in Colorado, and is focusing on further expansion, including the fall opening of a new clinic in Colorado Springs, Colo.

“We are thrilled to share this award with such an esteemed group of Colorado companies,” says Dr. Gordon Gibbs. “We couldn’t have done it without the belief and dedication of our staff, patients and business relationships. They are 100 percent American Vein & Vascular Institute all the way, every day.”
