PUEBLO, Colo. — April 16, 2014 – American Vein & Vascular Institute, a network of vein diagnosis and treatment centers in Colorado and Texas that was recently named a 2014 Colorado Companies to Watch finalist, continues to expand with the opening of its newest facility in Cañon City. Having outgrown a shared space with a local family physician, the new American Vein & Vascular Institute clinic and diagnostic center opened April 1 to better serve the central Cañon City area with state-of-the-art diagnostic services and world-class treatments for venous disease.

The Cañon City opening occurred the day before American Vein & Vascular Institute, formerly Rocky Mountain Vein Institute & The Diagnostic Center (RMVI), was honored at the Colorado Companies to Watch Finalist Reception hosted at the Governor’s Mansion. Over 1,200 applicants competed to be one of the 106 finalists. Final results of 50 winners will be announced by late April, and an awards ceremony to honor the 2014 recipients will be held on June 20 at the Marriott City Center in downtown Denver.

Honorees are second-stage companies that are developing valuable products and services, creating quality jobs, enriching communities, and creating new industries throughout the state. Honorees receive a trophy inscribed with their company’s name, and a profile of their company in the June issue of ColoradoBIZ magazine.

Chief Medical Executive Gordon Gibbs, M.D., and his wife, CEO Erin Gibbs, co-founded American Vein & Vascular Institute in 2009 in Pueblo, and subsequently opened facilities in Parker, Cañon City, and Vail. Expanding in 2012 into Arlington, Texas, was pivotal for the company, which began with three employees and now employs almost 50. In the past year and a half, American Vein & Vascular Institute has become the largest network of vein and vascular centers in Colorado, and is focusing on further expansion.

“We are thrilled to be counted among the growth organizations named as Colorado Companies to Watch,” says CEO Erin Gibbs. “Our staff has worked so hard to achieve this level of company growth. We attribute our success to what we call ‘The American Vein & Vascular Institute Way’ – extending genuine care to all patients-beyond treatment and recovery.”

The new Cañon City facility, like all American Vein & Vascular Institute clinics, was designed with the patient as the core focus. When patients walk through the door, they are proactively greeted with conversation, warmth and caring in a spa-like lounge, comfortable and inviting, with refreshments, reading materials, a television and music. According to Erin Gibbs, American Vein & Vascular Institute offers some of the most accredited and celebrated diagnostic staff in the industry.

“Being accredited by the Intersocietal Accreditation Commission puts American Vein & Vascular Institute in the top 10 percent of facilities in the country,” says Dr. Gibbs. “We stay ahead of the competition by adhering to strict quality standards, including the use of the latest technologies and equipment. In addition, our innovative phlebology fellowship program provides fellows with a major stepping stone toward preparation for the American Board of Venous & Lymphatic Medicine (ABVLM) certification exam.”

Dr. Gibbs, along with Dr. Timothy Cawlfield; Casey Straight, FNP, PAC; Betty Helm, RVT; and Ramona Marez, Clinic Coordinator and Medical Assistant will service the new clinic, located at 109 Latigo Lane, Suite D., Cañon City, CO 81212.
